THE ZODIAC OF UPCYCLING 2.

In this second part of the Zodiac of Upcycling we explore the star signs Cancer, Leo and Virgo, Libra and Scorpio. These three signs have all different creative personalities and approaches to upcycling.

Cancer - The sentimental soul of upcycling
Cancer approaches textile upcycling with emotions, imagination and deep appreciation for the stories that garments carry. For this water sign, clothes are rarely just pieces of fabric. The clothes represent memories, relationships, special occasions and different chapters of life. Instead of saying goodbye to a beloved garment they can give it a new purpose while preserving the feelings and memories attached to it.

Cancer tends to approach upcycling and sewing in a tender, thoughtful, personal and intuitive way. They may spend time looking through old wardrobes, family collections, second hand shops and boxes of forgotten textiles, searching for materials that inspire an emotional connection. Cancer are particularly attached to textiles with a history, things that have been passed down through generations.
For cancer, sustainability is about caring for what already exists. They understand the emotional value of keeping things, repairing them and finding new ways to give them life again.

As a water sign ruled by the moon, Cancer is associated with fluidity and soft emotions and the Emmanuelle skirt with its flowing movement is a perfect upcyling project. This skirt mirrors the sentimental nature of this creative star sign.

Leo - The dramatic showstopper
Leo does not believe that upcycled clothing has to look ordinary. For this fire sign, transforming and old garment into something new is an opportunity to create something unforgettable. Leo enjoys fashion as a form of self-expression. When Leo looks at an pre-loved garment to upcycle they may immediately imagine a more dramatic version; why settle for a basic garment when you can create something that turns head? Upcycling becomes a way to combine sustainability with glamour, originality and personal style.

For Leo, upcycling and fashion transformations should feel exciting. They want the finished garment to have personality, presence and a little bit of magic. Leo may enjoy projects that allow them to showcase their sewing skills. Upcyling gives them the opportunity to create distinctive pieces that stand out from mass-produce fashion. Their signature philosophy is; Why blend in when you can turn something old into a masterpiece?

Leo is a fire sign rueld by the sun, symbolising confidence, creativity, warmth and a love for standing out. The Barbie Celia sewing pattern is a fitting choice for Leos bold and expressive personality, offering an opportunity to create a unique piece that reflects their radiant energy.

Virgo - The perfectionist of the sewing room
Virgo sees upcycling as an opporunity to improve, refine and perfect. For this earth sign, a pre-loved garment is often a problem wanting to be solved. Virgo is especially good at recognising the potential of garments that other people might overlook.
Virgo connects naturally with the practical side of sustainability. They may preefer to work with what they already have rather than buying additional materials for every project. Careful planning can also help them use fabric scraps effciently and avoid unnecessary mistakes.

Virgo is the zodiac's detail-oriented upcycler, practical, meticulous and dedicated to making every stitch count. Virgo loves precise alterations, practical improvements, neat finishes and garments that fit beautifully.

Virgo is known for its eye for detail, practical mindset and appreciation for things that are both beautiful and functional. The Golden Sands T-shirt is a lovely match for this earth sign offering the opportunity to turn pre-loved clothes into something completely new.
