I made my first upcycling creation out of envy! I had friends wearing those long, flowery skirts which I didn't have, so I found a worn-out, pink blanket which I turned into a skirt and my goal was to astonish my friends with my new creation. Unfortunately they were not impressed as the skirt only lasted for about ten minutes... but I was only 5 years old by then so my sewing skills were not exactly excellent. Luckily things have improved since then.

Over the years, I've worked as a designer in fashion, film and theatre and taught sewing and handicrafts for many years. I've studied fashion, pattern cutting and sewing in Copenhagen, Paris and London and hold a Master's degree in Public Health, specialicing in the relationship between textiles, the environment and health. Along the way I have realised something  rather simple that I already knew when I was 5;

a worn-out shirt,  a pre-loved jumper or an old blanket is really just like any other fabric, just waiting to be looked at with new eyes.

Once you start seeing an old sock or worn-out skirt as just another piece of fabric, you start seeing them differently and realise that they can become the starting point for something else. And that's where Titania Fee comes in...
